pic.ie ("we", "us", "our") takes the privacy of its users seriously. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using pic.ie you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
When you register, we store your email address and a hashed password. We never store your password in plain text.
When you connect a OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive account, we receive an OAuth refresh token from that provider. This token lets us fetch your photos on your behalf without asking for your password. Tokens are encrypted at rest and are never shared with third parties.
You can revoke access at any time by removing the connected source from your dashboard, or by revoking pic.ie's permissions directly in your cloud provider's account settings.
We read the EXIF metadata embedded in your photos (date taken, GPS coordinates) solely to display the date and location overlay in the slideshow. This data is processed in memory and is not stored in our database.
When a device is paired, we generate a random pairing code and store it alongside an optional display name you choose. No hardware identifiers, MAC addresses, or device fingerprints are collected.
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting your account permanently removes your email address, hashed password, device records, and stored OAuth tokens from our database.
Backups may retain data for up to 30 days after deletion.
We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
The slideshow stores a device pairing token in your browser's
localStorage so the device can be identified across visits.
This data never leaves your browser except as part of authenticated API calls
to pic.ie servers.
pic.ie integrates with third-party cloud storage providers (Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, Apple iCloud, Google Photos). Your use of those services is governed by their own privacy policies. We recommend reading them if you have concerns about how those providers handle your data.
We use OpenStreetMap / Nominatim for reverse-geocoding photo GPS coordinates into human-readable location names. Only the latitude and longitude from a photo's EXIF data is sent; no personally identifiable information accompanies these requests.
If you have questions about this policy or wish to exercise your data rights, please use the Contact Us page.
